Sacrilege to follow…

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not coffee cake, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not coffee cake, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not coffee cake, I gain nothing.

Coffee cake is patient, coffee cake is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Coffee cake does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Coffee cake never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and coffee cake. But the greatest of these is coffee cake.

This is the most delicious thing in the world. Bar none.

A big Thank You goes out to my mom for making this most delicious treat :)

you're lucky; i once came across a blueberry coffeecake that had a lengthy list of names it was taking for beatdowns to come in the future. it was quite a record of wrongs and it really did seem to delight in the pain it was planning to inflict.

man, gotta stay away from those company barbeques.

Mmm, cherry coffee cake and binder clips....

Cadiz: Blueberry has always been a little surly. I only take blueberry in small, muffin sized doses. I also subdue it with melted butter, so as to maximize the repression of its otherwise violent nature.

Omar: Traditionally, the coffee cake calls for a cherry pie filling, but for this particular one, we went with raspberry pie filling. It was equally delicious. And the binder clips give it that little something extra that all culinary artists can appreciate.

how come the coffee cake doesn't look like a coffee cake?

wait a minute....have I ever even seen a coffee cake? hmmm....what a quandary.

hi, jon's mom!

Raspberry?! I've lost a little bit of faith in you, jon, for trying to tell me that something with raspberry filling is as delicious as something with cherry filling. Not that I'm saying it's not some level of delicious, but the same level?

ummmm...Hilarious

wow, raspberry is delicious. but so is cherry. it's really a tossup. sorry, o. i'm with jon on this one.

Et tu, cadiz? I think this calls for an omarphillips.net poll.

cadiz12 said...

sorry, pal. but i'm torn when it comes to delicious fruit filling.

omar said...

Raspberry is winning in the poll. I must say, I have misjudged the fruit filling tastes of the people.

it's ok, omar, maybe it's just the people who read your blog. we are a quirky bunch, you know.

I'm all for raspberries, but maybe its because I don't have enough cherry filling in my life.

I heard a rumor that Jon became a monk and renounced the internet.

Lucky for you Omar, you check your stat counter in excess of 10 times an hour, so you know I’ve stopped by recently. Thus making these rumors easily discarded as false.

Also, in addition to the Omar/Cadiz show going on in my comments: Raspberry Rules!!! Poles confirmed what I already knew…

poles? is that a penguin pun? because I'm checking my keyboard and the 'e' key is faaaaar away from the 'l' key.

cadiz12 said...

maybe he meant people from warsaw.

Syar: I think it’s sad that in your country they never taught you about the importance of having the poles (both north and south) weigh in on any topic where there is a disagreement. It’s a long standing tradition here in the states. Hence the expression, “We’ll see what the poles have to say about that!”

Little known fact: The term “poll” is actually a misspelling of the word “pole,” which is in reference to the long standing tradition of having both the north and south pole give their opinion on any given topic. It is both a symbolic and physical gesture signifying the embracing of the idea that both sides of the issue need to be heard.

In regards to Cadiz’s comment, due to their nickname, the pole’s AKA Polish people, are always the preliminary step in going to the north and south pole. Sort of like primaries. They are used to gauge the general feeling of an issue before it actually goes to the north and south poles for official vote.

Hope that clears everything up. I can see why you might be a little confused at first and would be inclined to think I’m an imbecile, but hopefully I’ve alleviated those fears. Thanks for using the Shuck N Jive as your premier source for obscure information.
